Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated additions of unsourced and/or poorly sourced info on critical and commercial reception. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:24, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 02:35, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously? The box-office figures have disruptively been changed one, two, three, four and five times in the last 24 hours. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:07, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent spam/advertising by several users. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 03:29, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: WP:V violation - a user is repeatedly adding unsourced content even after removal by others. The content is unverifiable as edit states: "records such as emails are available for review upon inquiry." user is identified only by IP address (2600:1700:2f70:5470:c8b5:596f:4883:e889) that may be related to subject matter of WP:COI Whistleblower23 (talk) 04:09, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Unconstructive edits and reverts from user with recently created account and apparent political biases. User has autoconfirmed account, so semi-protection is requested mostly as a preventative measure in case it requires escalation to full protection Jesterr35 (talk) 05:40, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Skitash (talk) 06:07, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated addition of nonsense edits; see page history for details. Blake Gripling (talk) 10:20, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Entranced98 (talk) 10:27, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated disruptive edits by an anonymous user, changing the "Result" section from "Ottoman Victory" to "Pashalik of Iraq" without providing reliable sources. Despite multiple reversions and warnings, the user continues to alter the content. The edits appear to be nationalistic and not based on historical evidence. Requesting semi-protection to prevent further edit wars and maintain accuracy. BEFOR01 (talk) 10:58, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The article says that Turabi was Greek, but the sources given say that he was Turkish, so there is vandalism, I want this page to be protected forever LGT55 (talk) 11:21, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Relevant to WP:ARBPIA sanctions, should be ECP. Thanks in advance. Smallangryplanet (talk) 12:52, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: A large number of drive-by edits that want to try and sever ties between this concept and neo-fascism. Suspicion of WP:MEAT / off-wiki canvassing. Simonm223 (talk) 13:17, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent removal of the lead from IP addresses being replaced with BLP violations. More or less vandalism imo. CNC (talk) 14:00, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: There is an ongoing content dispute with an IP editor who is unable to participate in the discussion related to the dispute. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:51, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotected with the caveat that I'm watching that page like a hawk and if the disruption (unrelated to the current content dispute) resumes I'm restoring the protection.Ponyobons mots 15:35, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: By restricting even the talk page, 'm concerned you're adding to the terrible damage that has already been done to Wikipedia by bolstering the myriad claims of its left wing bias. Other name changes of geographical locations haven't typically faced this level of scrutiny. Chancet (talk) 10:17, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. Ponyobons mots 15:31, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

This article is written in Spanish and does not have an English version. I am involved in literary scholarship concerning Pereira's work and would like to translate his Wikipedia page into English as part of this work. I need permissions in order to undertake this translation work. Ragazzostar76 (talk) 01:05, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ragazzostar76: Create a draft for the translation. Nine times out of ten, a straight translation of the page as it currently stands won't work as the English-language Wikipedia has both stricter and better-enforced sourcing standards. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 02:53, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also commend your attention to this list if you need/want help. Daniel Case (talk) 04:34, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
